Welcome to the first Lessons from the Ride newsletter. My hope is to help you discover some lessons a little earlier than I did—and inspire you to keep writing new chapters of your own.

The Ride

As I prepared to launch Be a Belief Builder, I found myself reflecting on the journey that brought me here.

I've always imagined life as a book we're writing one chapter at a time. But unlike most books, we're both the main character and the author.

For years, I assumed retirement meant I was beginning my final chapter. I thought I had a pretty good idea how the story would unfold.

Instead, much to my surprise, it became the beginning of an entirely new volume.

Since retiring, I've written my first book, learned golf and pickleball, explored new entrepreneurial ideas, and met incredible friends who have enriched my life in ways I never expected. But traveling to all seven continents is the chapter that still surprises me most—I never imagined myself plunging into the Antarctic ocean at this point in my life, let alone loving every second of it.

I've discovered that my future is still filled with blank pages, new chapters, and endless possibilities—as long as I'm willing to keep turning the page.

And perhaps the biggest surprise of all…

I honestly feel more alive than I did ten years ago. I'm looking forward to the next ten.

The Lesson

Sometimes our biggest limitations aren't the obstacles in front of us—they're the assumptions we've mistaken for truths.

Looking back, I realize the biggest thing that changed wasn't retirement. It was what I believed was still possible.

Surprise Yourself

What's a chapter you've assumed is behind you? Or maybe it's one you've dreamed about for years but keep telling yourself you'll get to “someday.”

Learning a new skill. Traveling somewhere you've always wanted to visit. Volunteering for a cause that matters to you. Or simply saying yes to an opportunity that feels a little scary—but makes your soul shine.

Whatever it is, surprise yourself by beginning that chapter.

Not someday.

Today.

Years from now, I hope you'll look back and realize your favorite chapter wasn't necessarily one you planned.

It was the one you were brave enough to begin.

What chapter will you begin today?

Until Next Time…

Thanks for being here. I'm so glad you're part of this journey.

If today's story reminded you of someone who might need to hear it, I'd love it if you shared it with them.

Enjoy the ride, Kathy

P.S. I'd love to hear from you!

Hit reply and tell me—what chapter are you ready to write?
