Meet Kathy

Believer in the potential of people.

Author, entrepreneur, advisor, and lifelong builder of belief.

Kathy Henely

I've always been fascinated by potential — what people, teams, and organizations can become when someone believes in them.

That fascination began early. Growing up, I watched how my parents' belief in each other — and in the potential of me and my siblings — shaped our lives. My dad's encouragement helped my mom become the first person in her family to graduate college. She earned her degree while raising four children and working full time, ultimately graduating in her early forties.

Their support created an environment where my siblings and I were encouraged to discover our strengths, pursue our interests, and dream about what was possible. I was learning a simple but powerful lesson: what people believe is possible shapes who they become.

A career in belief

Three decades of building teams and leaders.

That lesson stayed with me throughout a career spanning more than three decades in technology leadership. I was fortunate to serve as Chief Operating Officer of a fast-growing technology consultancy during the final decade of my career. Over more than twenty years, I helped grow and scale the business from a startup to a global consultancy with over 3,500 colleagues.

While strategy, execution, and operational excellence all mattered, what I loved most was building strong teams and developing future leaders. One pattern emerged again and again: the people and teams who achieved extraordinary things were rarely the most naturally gifted. More often, they had someone who saw potential in them before they saw it themselves — and then helped them believe in what was possible.

I am convinced that belief is one of the most powerful forces in leadership and life. It shapes what we attempt, how we respond to setbacks, and ultimately who we become. I also believe each of us can become a Belief Builder — and that it is the most lasting thing we ever do.

That realization became the foundation for my book, Be a Belief Builder. Having my son Matt serve as my editor made the experience especially meaningful and memorable.

Enjoying the ride

A new volume, not the end of the story.

Today, I serve on a corporate board, advise leaders, and pursue a variety of entrepreneurial and creative projects. I am energized by building things — whether that's helping organizations navigate growth, launching new ventures, writing books, or exploring ideas simply because they spark my curiosity. The common thread is a desire to learn, create, connect, and make a meaningful impact.

When I'm not working on a new project, you'll likely find me traveling with my husband, Craig, spending time with our two rescue pit bulls, golfing, playing pickleball, or planning the next adventure. Three months after retiring, we embarked on an 89-day journey around the world that I planned and booked. It was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life.

Since then, we have visited all seven continents and done things my younger self never would have imagined — from hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, to floating above India in a hot air balloon after a duct-tape-repaired leak, to watching a pride of lions coordinate a hunt on the African savanna.

"We are all capable of far more than we often give ourselves credit for."

Whether through leadership, writing, mentoring, or everyday conversations, my hope is the same — to help people see more in themselves, each other, and what's possible.
